Tallented is working with an 11 sized MAT in Birmingham.
This is a premier executive leadership opportunity within a large, highly influential Trust operating 11 academies across Birmingham. The Board of Trustees is seeking a Chief Financial Officer with exceptional commercial acumen and strategic foresight. In a challenging national funding climate, this Trust is not looking to merely survive; it aims to thrive, expand, and heavily invest in its communities. Your core focus areas will be the strategic deployment of a reserves policy and capital investment strategy, stringent risk mitigation, and aggressive income generation.
You will be the chief architect of the Trust’s long-term financial sustainability. A key deliverable will be designing a sophisticated reserves policy that strikes the perfect balance between maintaining a robust financial safety net and releasing crucial funds to maximize current educational impact. Paired with this, you will lead a sweeping capital investment strategy. You will assess the condition of the estate across all 11 Birmingham sites, prioritizing multi-million-pound investments in infrastructure, decarbonization projects, and cutting-edge digital technology to ensure the learning environments are world-class.
Simultaneously, you will be a commercial trailblazer for the Trust. You will lead on ambitious income generation initiatives, dramatically reducing the Trust’s reliance on standard General Annual Grant (GAG) funding. This will involve the commercialization of Trust assets, securing lucrative local partnerships, and leading complex, high-value grant applications. Underpinning all of this growth will be your uncompromising approach to risk mitigation. You will implement enterprise-grade financial controls and cyber-security investments, ensuring the Trust’s sprawling assets are shielded from volatility. We require a fully qualified accountant (FCA, FCCA, FCMA) with a proven track record of financial leadership at scale, capable of delivering immense commercial value alongside educational excellence.
FAQ
Why should I apply?

Why don't you post jobs for clients?
Apart from the obvious, (that we're not actively seeking work, but when we do...) we want to be able to provide clients an instant shortlist with people we have already met and qualified. Hence us focusing on building our our database at the moment
What makes you different to other agencies?
We like to think our candidate centric approach sets us apart from the 'big' HR agencies. We see and treat you as people, and get to know you first when interviewing you.
Also Ollie and Del, Hays ain't got them, now do they?!
Plus, we're like super fun and laid back in our comms...
